Rona Ryan

Manager and Owner

Rona was born in Sunderland. From an early age, she displayed a passion for music and by the age of nine, she was composing songs. Little did she know then, that this passion would develop into a full time career and she would become an established singer/songwriter. Rona's compositions became popular and she received an award in 1987 for her song 'Where's the Sunshine'. Rona toured Europe a became a Forces Sweetheart when she moved to Germany in 1990 where she performed with the Alanbrooke Band on a regular basis. Rona penned many songs and had two Albums produced.

Rona returned to England and in 1993 and in 1996 she won Best Ballad in the famous South Pacific Songwriting Awards for her Ballad 'Only a Whisper'. Rona went on to complete a Degree in World Musics, followed by a PGCE. She went on to teach Performing Arts and took Music into local Prisons. It was here Rona became interested in the welfare of others and used music and songwriting as a therapy.  Rona returned to University in 2002 and achieved an MSc in Social Science and Diploma in Social Work. Rona worked within Social Work for fifteen years. Her love for music continued as did her passion for helping others. Rona felt restrained in her role as a Social Worker and made a life-changing decision.

In 2017 Rona traveled to Bali to research alternative therapies and the Indinesaon culture. While in Bali, Rona received a sacred blessing, by a local Monk in the Devine Waterfall. On her return, she used her research along with many years of training in alternative therapies and her experience in working with people to create Willow Green House Therapy Centre.

Rona continues to develop Willow Green House and the services that are available. This year has seen an additional ground floor therapy room open, and a ground floor assessment room. She has also become an endorsed training centre and welcomed two new members of staff.

Rona's passion for music continues and she is about to release her next album 'Yours' which is dedicated to her late Mum who was and still is the anchor to Willow Green.  The album will be available through Willow Green's shop and available for download soon. Rona hopes that the tracks will uplift you and bring you comfort.
